Cut wire abrasives are produced by cutting the wire with special machine. Obtained physical properties of abrasive correspond to the chemical composition, hardness and diameter of the wire.
Applications:
The shape of the cut wire (cylindrical shape with sharp edges) determines that abrasive could be used for cleaning, rust removal, paint removal, grease removal, but as well in the sanding process (in foundries) for removal of the excess material from cast parts. Conditioned (round shape) cut wire is used in shot peening process.
Advantages:
· One of the main characteristics of this abrasive is its long-term use.
· Because of compact microstructure cut wire abrasives do not break into smaller particles, it only become rounded. Therefore, pre-treated surface is not contaminated with abrasive particles (like in case of steel grit)
· Cut wire shots does not contain rust on its surface. Therefore, the desired result of rust cleaning can be achieved much faster.
